The Jewish Federations of North America says Jewish engagement has settled into a higher “new normal” three years after the October 7 attacks.
In its survey, 38% of Jewish respondents said they had increased their Jewish engagement in some way over the last three years.
That is up 7 points from 2025 and down from 43% in March 2024, JFNA reported.
JFNA surveyed more than 2,800 Jews by text message in May and June, with a margin of error of 1.8%.
Of those who increased their involvement, 65% turned to synagogues, and Chabad was the second most popular option.
The barrier respondents cited most often was Israeli politics, with many saying they wanted spaces they see as apolitical.
JFNA’s Mimi Kravetz said these people are not walking away from Jewish life, they are looking for a community that fits.
